MODERN ART AT MAGASIN 3 IN STOCKHOLM

Last when Daniel was visiting here in Stockholm we took the bus out to the modern museum Magasin 3 out by the docks. I had never been before and despite it being quite small and you had to pay 80sek to get in it was definitely worth it.

Majsan and Daehyun joined us and we were close to alone in there. Like many other modern museum I loved walking around the large industrial facilities.

And like always stuff were strange but pretty. Or just strange, which I think is awesome.

To enter one of the exhibitions we had to open a little wardrobe and climb in, just like Narnia. All of you who know me by now are aware of my being a sucker for all things magical. So this was obviously a dream and I’m a loser and absolutely fine with it.Modern-Art-Museum-Stockholm-Magasin-3

They had gigantic robotic spider legs jumping out of walls which freaked me out, but other than that it was great.

I wish I could just sit and work from an artist studio. I would be dreadful at creating art but I would love observing it whilst writing. So holla at me you artist out there who can lend me a little desk! I’m awesome at brewing coffee and playing guilty pleasures. For now I’ll just have to make do with hanging out in galleries.

Also do you have any other museum tips you think I should check out here in Stockholm or London or NYC? Going there soon and want to become ~artsy and inspired~.

Linn

Ds.

  • Sure! Okay restaurants: first of all, Jeepney. It is bloody amazing, phillippine food, their cocktails are a bit expensive (for what i’m used to, but they are really delicious and innovative), it’s on 10th st and 2nd ave. Another absurd/great place is Sweet Chick: fried chicken with waffles and mapple syrup? YES. They have one in Ludlow street in the lower east side and one in williamsburg i think. For mexican food i really like Mission Cantina (but with also taco trucks like El Rey in Astoria and many more you won’t be lacking great mexican food on the cheap side too). Obviously everything in chinatown, but even if it’s on the west side, Red Farm for chinese is great.
My favourite bars are: Automatic Slim on in west village, a very neighborhood-y bar during happy hour and late nights, pod 39; the people are a bit pretentious but totally worth the view with the postmodern setting, and red rooster in harlem (Very close to lots of great soul food eateries). And most important of all, hangover food: Artichoke Pizza (heaven in your mouth) and Best Pizza in williamsburg (and yes, i think it really is one of the best). Yes my hangover food is pizza <3 and for sightseeing i really love red hook and coney island! okay this could go on for a while so shoot me an e-mail if you ever have any question. Cheers!

  • If you’re in London you should have a look at CARSTEN HÖLLER’s exhibition at Southbank centre: it’s more of a game and you get to do lots of fun/magical things – which sounds like your kind of thing 😉 x

  • Good morning Linn! For New York, apart from the basics like the Met, Moma etc., for contemporary art some of my favourite places are the New museum, mike weiss gallery on 24th and 10th ave., the museum of moving image, the storefront for art and architecture (sometimes they’ll have top notch exhibitions), the noguchi museum in long island, and gotta check out the New Whitney too! Oh, and for a VERY strange and wonderful place, go to the troll museum in lower east side. Hope you’ll have a lovely time!

I liked the MoMa PS1 even better then the MoMa itself and they also have great parties. And something apart from museums are the jazz concerts at Marjorie Eliots. It’s an old lady who invites here super talented jazz friends and the play music in her apartment. Everybody’s welcome and it’s pretty amazing! here’s more information http://www.harlemonestop.com/organization/84/parlor-jazz-at-marjorie-eliots and some pictures I took when I was there last summer: http://lenafotografie.blogspot.de/2014/09/jazz.html.
I wish you the best time! 🙂
