BRIGHTON DAY 2

1 farm Sunday morning and I awake to Kajsa knocking on the door, still wearing last night’s outfit. I haven’t slept at all, she says in desperation. It is so disgusting here I just kept on thinking about all the volatile germs touching me. It is eleven so I get up and hug her and we get dressed and wake the boys to head out for some brunch.2 saboune Brighton is sunny and everybody is queueing for brunch but we manage to find some seats at Farm. The coffees come steaming hot but not even them are enough to ease our redbull vodka hang overs. Slowly though, we seem to all gain some energy. 3 olivia Olivia texts us that she’s just arrived with the train from London to join us for the day. 5 brighton So of course we head straight for the beach. It is grey but humid but we do enjoy the clouds as we lay down on the rocks, listening to Connan Mockasin and other beachy music mixing with the icy waves. Unfortunately Kajsa is beyond rescue and having stayed up for 30hrs she abandons us to crash on the train back home to London. The rest of us feed each other cheap sweets on the towels and drink juice straight out of the carton before we sink into the fresh ocean. I stay extra long under the surface, not moving, trying to disappear my thought. 4 saboune Later, in our exhausted breaths I am overwhelmed with sorrow as there are only 7 days until I have to move away from London. But in that exact moment a seagulls shits right on Sebastian’s head and I am flooding over with relief as I desperately laugh harder than I have in ages. And there is no stop, even in this shitty sad time, or perhaps especially now, funny shit like this save me. 7 brighton8 brighton Around 3pm we decide the beach has had enough of us and we head into town. 9 liv People keep on dropping off due to lack of sleep and an overdose of alcohol, but Olivia sure keeps us up and for that I am grateful. 6 ice cream With Sebastian and Daniel we stroll down tiny streets and pretend to look for gems in stores until we finally find some ice cream. 10 daniel fishy fishy I get overtired and a giggle bubble up with every sentence and every emotion. Dinner is approaching and the ocean winds seem to have absorbed every ounce of energy left in our worn bodies. On some sunny pavement we crash and scavenge all of our apps to find somewhere to get fed. But we HAVE to eat seafood as we are by the seaside! Olivia proclaims and we all agree. Unfortunately being a group of celiacs and poor people wanting seafood we are facing a bit of a challenge. Finally though a little tiny restaurant just around the corner from our sunny alley pops up on Seb’s screen. They serve seafood and isn’t pricy and have tables available! It seems too good to be true, and it kind of is as Seb tells us it’s called Fishy Fishy. Oh dear sweet lord. Who would ever call their restaurant Fishy Fishy? Although it is underneath all my standards eating at a place with a name like that (not really, I eat a freaking corner shop as long as it’s cheap) we decide to go, and it is heaven. In a nautical setting we eat mussels, drink white wine and die a little. As the sun sets and my card gets declined when I try to pay for dinner, I feel absolutely drained. My man saves me and we take the train back to my London. But oh my, I will always have a soft spot for Brighton.   Linn
