New York | Grand Central Station & Bar Hopping On Lower East Side

It was finally Friday, the day of the week filled with most anticipation, and on top of this we are still in New York.Daniel-at-Grand-Central-StationAfter having djed hiphop in bed for a good few hours we got dressed and then I convinced Daniel to go all touristy with me. Well, he didn’t really need a lot of convincing, he never does because he’s always up for doing things. So we got on the train and went up to Grand Central Station.Daniel-at-Grand-Central-Station,-NYCIt was grand and pretty, but he was prettier. Linn-visiting-Grand-Central-StationI was sweaty and curious.Linn-at-Grand-Central-StationAnd very flirty towards my babe of a boyfriend of course. Well it was pretty but I mean seeing a train station doesn’t keep you busy all day so we moved on pretty quickly. The-Guggenheim-Muesum-new-YorkTo the Guggenheim Museum by Central Park.Guggenheim-Museum-ArchitectureBut just to see the impressive building because we couldn’t stomach taking another step into any more museums. Instead we went to stroll around the park past drug dealers and posh people walking their dogs. Hopefully we won’t end up like neither of them.Daniel-and-Frida-on-Lower-East-SideAround four we were done with our little date and met up with our favourite people Nicolas and Frida at Lower East Side.Processed with VSCOcam with a6 presetAfter having hit up a few bars two more friends joined and Nicolas brought us to his favourite date spot; Sel Rrose.Processed with VSCOcam with a6 presetBecause I had been nagging everybody for this – god’s gift to man (along with the Internet, skinny dipping and snogs) OYSTERSSS.Oysters-at-Sal-RroseNobody else was a fan but I was somewhat close to euphoric. Unfortunately my bankcard only allowed me to have five, but still! Sel-RroseThe others ordered beers and burgers and we chatted about authors and the New Yorkers told us their weirdest stories about the living situation here. Sel-Rrose-Oyster-RestaurantBye bye Sel Rrose, I will make sure to return because you’ve become my favourite spot so far. Frida-Regeheim-Lower-East-SideCan we please have bare legs and t-shirt nights for the rest of eternity?A-night-in-new-York-City Nicolas brought our tipsy little group to the most hidden bar I’ve ever been to. Outside a closed art gallery a man stands smoking. It turns out that he’s a bouncer. Nicolas tells him that we want to go have a drink at the bar but the bouncer responds coldly with asking the name of it. I looked as uncool as a scared a tween trying to buy cigarettes but Nicolas told him the name of the bar and after some silence we were let in.

The big bouncer walked us through the tiny gallery, opened a freaking part of the wall and let us enter this fancy cocktail bar, as dark as a chimney and seductively cosy. I was impressed and felt like an undercover agent. Not bad New York, I knew you had it in you. Cheeky-Sandwiches-Manhattan-New-YorkAfter expensive drinks and boys laughing very loud and my starting tripping on my consonants we left the bar, swaying and giggling. It felt appropriate to soak up some of that liquor so we dropped by Cheeky Sandwiches, the best sandwich spot in New York. Nicolas-at-Cheeky-Sandwiches*Eying that piece of meat.* 169-Snack-Bar-ManhattanBack on track we walked over to the utterly odd 169 Bar which is decorated like a beach bar that swallowed a ton of christmas lights, serves oysters until closing and plays soul funk? All to the smell of the most buttery popcorn. It was great. We had a popcorn fight, told secrets and who knows what. <3 <3 <3New-York-FridaA few hours in we were starved for some hiphop and called for some ubers to come pick us up. I sent embarrassing snaps to all you guys of us singing along to Rae Sremmurd in the taxi towards some bar in Brooklyn called Beverly’s. There we danced and I bought drinks for a girl I didn’t know and Frida got groped by a woman adoring her ass.

I did a lot of embarrassing things which I won’t tell you guys because some things have to be censored here. We laughed at me the day after though and I can definitely promise this was the worst worst hangover of this trip, and oh so worth it!

NEW YORK | the new Whitney Museum, Lower East Side & Forgtmenot

We’ve come to day 5 of mine and Daniel’s two week trip to North America.Daniel-cooking-brunch-in-BushwickIt is by far my favourite moment, sitting barelegged on a chair, playing music whilst breakfast is being made. It feels like there are no worries in this world watching Daniel fry bacon. Outside Brooklyn is loud with cars honking and people shouting in Spanish. In here though it’s calm and we talk about the minimalistic house we want to buy by the sea one day.Linn-Wiberg-and-Frida-Regeheim-in-New-York-CityWhen lunch is done we take the subway down to Manhattan with Frida. To Meatpacking and the new Whitney Museum of American Art to be more exact.The-New-Whitney-Museum,-New-York-CityThe whole thing is goddamn lovely. I hate to say it, but I almost like it more than my precious Tate Modern in London. It’s laid out on five floors but it doesn’t all feel to overwhelming because for once, somebody is actually trying to be user friendly and explanatory in how art can make sense. You get to follow America’s transition through shit times, wars, dreamy decades etc and it’s not only the AC that gives me goosebumps this time. Frida-Regeheim,-the-New-Whitney-Museum,-New-YorkThe huge massive mega plus though are the two rooftops there though! New-York-SkylineOverlooking pretty much all of Manhattan. It’s 36 degrees when we’re there and I feel like the bacon in our frying pan this morning. The-New-Whitney-Museum-Rootop,-New-York-SkylineBut I mean seriously? <3 <3 This is my absolute best New York tip guys, you have to go!   West-Village-New-York-CityWhen we’re stuffed with art but famished otherwise we head to a coffee shop to get some sandwiches and iced coffees. We sit down in a posh park in West Village where kids where bathings suits that cost more than my whole trip to the States.New-York-Cast-Iron-BuildingsFrida talks about the tattoo she got recently and it makes me really want to get a new one. I won’t though, because I’m already in dept to both Daniel and my parents. Justifying spending a lot of cash on inking my skin will be slightly tricky. Unless somebody of you guys would tattoo me for free?? : )) New-York-PicketingThe rest of the day is spent walking through most of Lower Manhattan stopping at vintage shops and coffee shops. New York has a forceful energy that is vibrant and lively. All around people are always on to something else, with 100%, whether it is telling a story really loud, cursing on the road, picking up chicks or in this case picketing against increasing rents. Miss-Lilys-New-YorkFinally the fatigue settles in and we stop at Miss Lily’s for some happy hour drinks. Daniel-Pilaprat,-New-York-June-2015 <3 Linn-Miss-lilysWhen on holiday the thought of ever having to spend a full day in the office feels not only foreign but completely made up. We bounce ideas between the three of us on projects to work on, things we could to to become wealthy or at least independent, but finish off with realising we just have to marry rich.Shillers-Liquor-BarNicolas joins and Frida leaves. On the way to another restaurant we pick up some ice cream sandwiches and stop by Shiller’s Liquor Bar and its tumblr famous sign.Daniel-Pilaprat-New-YorkKeeping them instagram followers happy.Forget-Me-Not-Bar-New-YorkNicolas take us to the bar/restaurant/really weird place called Forgtmenot with even weirder decoration themed surf/americana/football/asian. It’s weird and I like it a lot. My enchiladas win the food competition.Nicolas-Pilaprat,-New-YorkThe following hours we try convince Nicolas to move to us in London because it’s pretty lovely seeing these twins together. Despite their jokes being beyond mean and too often involve bullying me. By the time we walk through a midnight Bushwick I’m sure he’s a bit convinced.
