Some pics from a couple of weeks ago when I met up with Jimmy and Daniel to go see ‘A New Sensations’, an exhibit for one night only displaying some of London’s most interesting new young artists. The vast majority of those exhibiting were thankfully chicks, several which I’ve interviewed for my series Babe of the Month, of course, like Francesca Allen and Chloe Sheppard. I also fell for Joe Holbrook’s oil paintings of everyday scenarios in Hackney, like chips dropped on the ground.

Tipsy on free gallery beer we went to Meat Mission for some greasy burgers, whiskey sours and deep fried mac n cheese. Sometimes, normal weekdays aren’t too bad.

sandqvist launch party at protein studios

Protein-Launch-Party-for-Sandqvist-Bags-London

On Thursday I walked the hour it takes me to go down to Shoreditch. Spring was everywhere and I was going to the press event for Sandqvist who are launching their first store in London.

Daniel Pilaprat, Catch, Shoreditch 2016

I brought this gorgeous creature as my +1, but first we dropped by Catch. It’s the bar we met at and that used to be my favourite place when I moved here (honestly went at least 3 times a week). They sold it three years ago to turn it into some tropical spot and it was even more awful than we thought.

So we walked back to Protein Studios to the party.

Där sprang vi in i min babe Maria Pizzeria.

There we bumped into my babe Maria Pizzeria.

Sandqvist-Launch-Party-Hotdogs

The whole party was obviously Swedish themed, and apart from playing Swedish hiphop bangers one could order Swedish hotdogs form the most Swedish looking lady there might be in this world. Honestly, the hairstyle, glasses, stern facial expression and the fact that she refused to answer any questions in English. <3

Daniel-Pilaprat,-at-Sandqvist-Launch-ShoreditchDaniel-Pilaprat,-Sandqvist-Launch-Shoreditch

As Daniel thinks that Swedish hotdogs is the best my country has to offer (seriously, he had three hotdogs a day when he came to visit the first time) he was ecstatic. Linn, Sandqvist Launch Party Shoreditch Protein Studios London

Och det var jag med.

And so was I.

The dj played listerally ALL of my favourite rnb and hiphop tracks and Daniel and I were dancing nonstop with our gin and tonics, just like on our first date (and all the following lol). Had to send a million snapchats to Olivia for old times sake.

Linn Daniel, the Ace Hotel Shoreditch

At midnight we were drunk and had to pee, so we went to the Ace Hotel (never have to queue for a toilet there).

Linn-Daniel-Ace-Hotel-2016

Relieved, we snuck into the photobooth for a snog.

Daniel Pilaprat, Snapback London 2016

Then I got to follow this handsome fellow back home, just like on our first date.

glitter ceilings, highschool dances and dreams of rock stars

Moth-Club,-Hackney

Ok, a lot of gigs right now, but I do live in London after all! Hold tight because this will sound mental, but I have a feeling things will turn to shit any second now and my life will end or something, so I need to squeeze out all the good stuff whilst I can. Therefore I went with some of my chicks + Saboune to see Telegram play at the new Moth Club in Hackney. The decor was like a teenage highschool dance in the 60s puked all over, in other words – GREAT.

Wilma,-The-Moth-Club

Wilma var där i babe:iga knutar.

Wilma was there looking fab.

The Moth Club

I didn’t know any of the bands playing but fell head over heels for this guy who was HILARIOUS. If you happen to read this, please call me, I wanna be your bff.

The-Moth-Club,-Glitter-Ceilings

The ceiling was exactly like the material in roller skates and helmets were in the 90s you know? Rock hard and magically sparkling.

Telegram at The Moth Club Hackney Central

We watched, danced, sang and swooned over the clientel as much as the band members. A golden star to the dj looking like a teenage dream in his long 70s haircut and flares.
Kajsa-and-Wilma,-the-Moth-Club-Hackney-Central

Then Kajsa was told off for swooning a lil too much. In a velvet booth we drank lukewarm pints and poured our hearts out about broken love and rockstar dreams whilst Thursday faded into Friday. But in some places time stands somewhat still, like Never Never Land. This was one of those.

Highlights From My London Summer

I have a few photos left from my summer in London so I thought I’d share some of my highlights with you from that rainy, grey, magical town.

Lovisa-Amel-in-London-2015

On one of the rainiest of Sundays I was heavy and hungover but still managed to get out. I stumbled upon the best sample sale where I got my favourite summer shoes and then met up with six of my favourite people. Squeezed in under broken sunroof a we sat drinking ales whilst getting drenched from the rain. People think I’m odd but rain is my favourite weather so I didn’t mind one bit (which makes London a pretty good match for me) because I was with my babes. <3 <3

Lovisa-Ranta,-London-2015

Lovisa had taken the bus all the way back east and (I returned the favour by going on an exotic one day holiday down to her girl collective down South). And it might sound lame but when you can’t afford paying for your bus ride, the other side of town does feel like another country.

Sebastian-Saboune,-London-2015

We kept on bar hopping around Dalston, occupying the tiniest corner in the otherwise full pubs. It was the Wimbledon finals and England was going nuts. As the hangover caught up with me and made me head home, my insane friends went back home to continue partying until 11am the morning after.

Sebastian-Saboune,-London-2015

Another of my favourite nights this summer was when I met up with Daniel, Gin and Seb in Soho for after work drinks. A little tipsy we took a taxi(!) down to Peckham and Frank’s rooftop bar (which I recommended in my London Guide).

Sebastian-Saboune,-London-2015

It was humid and warm out, young people everywhere with summer in their lungs and fairy lights reflecting in their eyes. The whole carpark rooftop was filling up and we zigzagged through the crowd, the twilight vibrating, feeling like this night would explode into fireworks and be forever etched into my memory.

Kajsa-Gin-at-Franks-Rooftop

In between british boys in ugly print tees we found my girl Kajsa. I introduced Gin to her, Seb’s new girlfriend, and she fell in love with her just like I had.

Franks-Rooftop-Bar

And when Seb had to go home to get ready for work, she stayed out with us! <3

Sebastian-Saboune,-London-2015Franks-Rooftop-Bar-in-Peckham

It’s when I get up this high I lose my breath over London. This night was no different. London is so big and there is so many places to see and things to do and it’s alive!!! CAN I BE YOUNG 4EVER PLZ.

When nighttime crept upon us we walked over to a tiny little basement snooker club called Canavan. It was like back when I was nineteen and Olivia and I hung out at Efes four nights a week, dancing to hiphop with bad boys. Tonight the boys stood crammed around the bar, dancing to electronic music or talking about getting married whilst weirdos of all ages played snooker and wore odd outfits. Weird weird London I like you a lot.

Danielle-Nemet,-London-2015

A few days I met up with my mental coach and ultimate diva Danielle to try sort out our lives over coffees and laptops in Dalston. I mostly sat sighing over her hair, gossiping about pop stars and music videos, colleagues trying to explain ”underground and laughing at her flatmate situations.

Jared,-London-2015

As July merged into August Jared and Olivia invited us over to their new flat in Chancery Lane. They’ve moved in to an old postal office with a grand entrance, sauna and one of those rooftop terraces only annoyingly successful couples in glossy magazines have.

Jared,-London-2015Olivia-Zuccherato

We ate tapas in the sunset like the glossy editorial stars we are.

Jared,-London-2015

I can’t believe it’s only two months left until I move back to this place. And settle down! No more moving away or having to study elsewhere or do long distance. This summer definitely didn’t put me off.

A Hackney BBQ & Celebrity Spotting

You didn’t see that much from my summer in London. For some reason I was busy doing yoga, writing, drinking cava in the park to post it all here. But some of it is too good to just drop so I hope you don’t mind me catching you up to some of it now. Blog-Post-Maeves-Kitchen-Clapton-CafesA Saturday in July just when we had arrived back from our trip to North America, London was still exotically humid. We’d been out the day before but I can’t remember where to. In Maeves-Kitchen-Avocado-SandwichMaeve’s Kitchen on Lower Clapton Road is hell of a place for all you locals to check out. I wouldn’t say it’s worth it for tourist to trekk here as it’s nothing special, but for us who live there! The prices are super low, the food great AND MOVIE STARS HANG OUT HERE.Blog-Post-Linn-Clapton-CafesI felt like a goddess having made contact with somebody from the Harry Potter cast, Clémence Poésy to be exact. Sitting in the sun she looked typically casual in her chilled out French clothes. Almost annoyingly hot in unpretentious clothes and fancy sunnies. I was lucky enough to get a spot two tables down with nobody in between so that I was exactly in her line of vision and her in mine. She even saw my deathly hallow tattoo so I can now die happy.

I did die, because being this close to somebody who represents that world felt basically as if it all is real and I will get my invitation to Hogwarts soon. And this is where all the PR agencies run the other way and never invite me to attend a bigger event ever again. Blog-Post-Daniel-at-the-Ace-Hotel-in-LondonDown through Clapton then Hackney all the way down to Shoreditch we walked. Passing by Londoners carrying second hand furniture from yardsales or retail assistans standing outside their shops smoking rollies. Since we were going to Ornella’s birthday barbecue later we got her a present from Artwords Bookshop before sitting down at the Ace Hotel for a drink, both places which I recommended in my London GuideDrinks-at-the-Ace-Hotel-LondonIt was too hot for a coffee and similar to our days in New York, the humidity made my skin sticky and my heart hungry. I must say that after more than three years I still love hanging out with Daniel just the two of us. It’s when I have the most fun! How is it even possible to have so much to talk about when you see each other all the time?Blog-Post-Hackney-Birthday BBQOnce the afternoon passed we got on the bus back up to Hackney and Homerton where, in a hidden little compound, the party was about to start.Blog-Post-Ornella-Hackney-BBQMy baby doll was happy, especially about my coffee table book on the history of sneakers all wrapped in a watermelon patterned wrapping paper. Blog-Post-Daniel-at-Hackney-BBQDaniel brought out the sausages and the cava in platic mugs.Blog-Post-Henry-at-BBQ Henry were happy as they announced that the two of them are moving in together this autumn!  Blog-Post-Daniel-in-Hackney-Flat Blog-Post-Hackney-FlatAs it seems like Homerton is the windiest  spot in London, Daniel and I went back home to put some clothes on and drink beer in the sofas whilst listening to Trap Queen three time in a row. <3Blog-Post-Hackney-BBQLots of my old uni friends dropped in and French girls I’ve met at late night parties. The food was sizzling on the grill far past that the sun had left. All around the grass people made new friends, spillt Sainsbury’s prossecco and devoured hotdogs. I tried to make Isaac help me buy a bike in exchange for me teaching him front end coding whilst simultaneously getting Jordan to sneak me in for an internship. When it was past midnight Daniel and I want to a German houseparty to drink cheap versions of margharitas and meet new popstar girlfriends with our Canadian clan. There was food everywhere and I could tell from Daniel’s eyes that he was tipsy and wanting me.

But it didn’t get that exciting because instead I went to a basement club night where I paid 10 quid to get in even though I was on the list. Then I felt like the stiffest and most whitest boring person ever and stayed exactly 12min before walking home and calling Daniel crying over having to walk through the park by myself and being angry at him not meeting me and saving me. : ))) Life is weird.
