Q&A

video Q&A about long distance relationships

Linn Daniel rain

It’s now one year since Daniel and I moved back together after over a year of long distance. One year. It feels like we’ve made it out of everything it was, the emotions, doubts etc. Yay us!

I know many of you are going throught the same thing, or are about to, or maybe already have. This weekend I am recording a video where Daniel and I will talk about our long distance relationship, and relationships in general. We are also going to answer whatever questions you might have!

Thought it was about time we put my babe of a bf against the wall, and let him sweat a lil. So fire away with your questions below!

a list: things in 5

 Linn,-leopard-coat-from-5Preview

– I LOVE THIS SONG
– Fyfan vad fräckt!
– Nej tack, jag äter inte kyckling.
– Ughhh, that’s disgusting.
– Did you know that [sätt in valfri onödig fakta]. Isn’t that insane!

– This.
– Mina systrar
– Amy Schumer

I love him.

– Hyra. Största utgiften, no doubt.
– Mat.
– Pale ales, whiskey & prosecco.

me and alex, aka hubby to be, in 1993

when we spent a weekend in brighton before I moved to stockholm for a year

5 jag älskar att göra

– Simma!
– Dricka kall lemonad i daggiga klimat.

Daniel and I at 1234 Shoreditch Festival in 2012

in Stockholm archipelago last year

5 saker som doftar underbart

– Havet.
– Min kille.

– Snygga koftor. Varför ser alla ut som pensionärskoftor?
– Ett krispigt par vita sneakers
– Block heeled ballerina pumps.

Linn-Miss-lilys

5 thing that make me Linn

– The fact that when I meet new people I cannot stop asking questions about them and their lives.
– How I cry so often. I don’t know who I’d be if I woke up one day and had run out of tears?
– That somehow I manage to be spontaneous and a control freak at once.
– My love for everything and everybody who’s a little odd.

– I love Justin Bieber.
– No thanks, I don’t eat chicken.
– Ughhh, that’s disgusting.
– Did you know that [unnecessary fact of choice]. Isn’t that insane!

5 things I want to get better at

– Writing.
– Knowing exactly how to work the setting of my camera.
– Talking to strangers, especially in professional settings.
– Enjoying working out regularly. Ughhhh, why is it so boring?
– Properly committing to things whether it’s friendships, hobbies, jobs or dreams,
and not impatiently jump to the next.

5 thoughts I often have

– Wow, my make up looks fab.
– How is he so funny? I love him.
– I wish my mum/dad/sisters were here.
– I hate facebook messages.
– What will I become in the future?

5 things I spend a lot of money on

– Rent. Most of my money, no doubt.
– Food. Eating out here is so cheap (~£10) so I tend to go out at least once a week. Otherwise I like cooking new recipes for a long long time with weird  ingredients. It’s worth every penny.
– Drinks, especially pale ales, whiskey and prosecco.
– Flight tickets to Sweden, Kenya or anywhere else.
– Presents. I think I spend more money on gifts than I do on clothes?

5 dreams I often have

– Me in a weird setting shooting and killing people. Honestly, this happens A LOT!
– That I’m in some sort of game show or competition and always win haha.
– Being trapped with my friends in scary locations or having to solve some sort of mystery that changes as soon as I get close to the solution.
– That I have ghosts or murderers in my room and that they kill me.
– And when it’s not twisted and creepy I always dream about summer. I don’t think I’ve ever had a winter dream?

5 things few people know about me

– I have a genetic disease triggered by bacterial infections which crashes my immune system and leads to bad arthritis and much more. Because of this I was in a wheelchair for six months when I was 15 . There is no cure.
– Because it was triggered by salmonella I don’t eat poultry any longer.
– During four years, starting when I was 16, I exchanged love letters with a ten years older man I met in Paris. They are beautiful.
– I worked at McDonald’s when I was 16 AND LOVED IT!
– When I was four I married my best friend Alex and we stayed married for seven years. He still means the world to me. <3

5 I love to do

– Swim! Adore swimming more than most people.
– Be too many friends around a table early on a Saturday.

5 things I want to happen before the end of the year

– That I get a job after june that allows me to pay rent.
– Figuring out how to cut my hair. Suggestions?
– That I get to fall in love with and dance to a song like I did with Justin Bieber’s Sorry in 2015.
– That I have a complete draft of my first novel.
– That Daniel and I move in to a place of our own.

5 my wardrobe lacks

– The ultimate pair of black jeans that don’t stretch, fade to green or rip in the crotch.
– A black bag made of thick leather in which my camera would fit, but that would still look small. I also demand lots of pockets.
– Cardigans. Seriously why do they all look like something a granny would wear?
– A pair of white sneakers.
– Block heeled ballerina pumps.

5 things that smell divine

– The ocean.
– My boyfriend.
– Blueberry crumble.
– The forest in the rain.
– Warm skin that’s been in the sun.

– That somehow I manage to be spontaneous and a control freak at once.
– My love for everything and everybody who’s a little odd.
– That I will always stand up for myself and others, friends as strangers.

Q&A / all about tv-series

Here is the fourth part of the many questions you asked me. This time it’s all about those tv-shows, because oh lord isn’t that just one of the golden things of living.

Watching-tv-series-at-home

Watching tv-series in the cosy mess of Daniel’s old warehouse flat.

Describe your taste in series and films!

Drama, dirt, mysteries and killer women. Like stories of underdogs plotting to take down some big evil thing or generally people trying to get out of awful situations. I’m not massively into comedies (apart from Friends and Modern Family) but I like an undertone of humour, especially if it’s quite dark.

I want the characters, to be flawed and human, making common mistakes but manage to get back up. It should make me shed some tears as people are forced to make a tough decision that will inevitably hurt somebody. Since I tend to cry easily, it’s not that much to ask.

Which shows do you find overrated?

Arrested Development. I don’t get why anybody thinks it’s funny? Maybe I suck, but I don’t get it.

The Wire. The most overrated show of all time. People keep on saying ‘you have to give it a proper chance, it gets great in the 3rd season’ or ‘it’s not slow it’s sophisticated, written by a real police reporter ‘. I don’t care. I’ve sat through a whole season and that’s more than 10 wasted hours that I’m never getting back.

Recommendations of more ‘unknown’ series we shouldn’t miss?

the Peaky Blinders is my best tips. A deadly hot Cillian Murphy plays the son of a gangster cartel taking over the family business on the lawless streets of post-war Birmingham on the cusp of the 1920s. The female characters are few but omg I LOVE THEM and the british accent makes my knees weak. The whole thing is so beautifully shot and makes me want autumn forever. The dramatic story is heart breaking and frightening plus the boys so handsome I drool.

Masters of Sex is based on the historic study of William Masters and Virginia Johnson who were the first to explore the science of human sexuality. It’s met with disgust and the duo are forced to do it behind closed doors. An easy watch but dramatic in the sense of knowing boundaries when your exploring new territory.

Les Revenants / the Returned. A crime thriller set in a quiet French village in the Alps where suddenly one day, loved ones who have passed away return as if nothing has happened. They don’t know that they’ve died or how they’ve return and it’s about the aftermath and how their families and friends react.

the KnickAbout a New York hospital in the early 1900s, when surgery pretty much gets invented. A few pioneering doctors work on new procedures as c-sections and blood transfusions performed on desperate people. One of the most talented doctors, Edwards, gets hired to work on the surgical team, but the other doctors are appalled. Why? Because Edwards is black. It’s a world full of prejudice and poverty and frightening excitement.

Top 5?

– Peaky Blinders
– Breaking Bad
– True Blood
– Gossip Girl
– Lost

And also Suits, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Prison Break, the OC, the Bridge, the Killing, Orange Is the New Black, the Returned, Masters of Sex, Homeland, Modern Family, House of Cards, True Detective, Sex & the City, 24.

Who’s your favourite tv-series character?

Donna in Suits

Rachel in Friends

Joan in Mad Men

Virginia Johnson in Masters of Sex

All of them full of sass, respect and wit. <3 <3

Which are your favourite tv-shows or characters?

Q + A / everything about travels & my dearest memory

Here is the third part of the many questions you asked me. This time about my dearest memory, my complexes and where I’ve loved travelling to.

Linn and daniel 2012 linn daniel 2012

Daniel and I back in 2012 when we had just started dating.

Can you tell us about a favourite memory?

Hmm, difficult! I have so many! But I have one that I’ve written about once in Swedish. It is from when Daniel and I had just become a couple and it was spring in London.

We had been out the day before and now spent the whole morning on his mattress on the floor of his big flat, making out, having sex, talking about nothing important but that still seemed crucial. Down in his living room we opened all the windows and sun and a loud murmur from the Shoreditch crowd down below. With breakfast in hand we climbed out on his ceiling and sat there in his massive jumpers drinking coffee and eating vanilla yoghurt with blueberries.

He played his favourite music from his ancient ipod that looked like a game boy and taught me the word sun shower. I thought that it was the most beautiful word I had heard. I could barely look in his eyes because they were painfully beautiful, all blue with yellow freckles in them, so we just made out. My heart was pin balling inside and my palms permanently sweaty. Down on the streets people stopped to take photos of us and it didn’t feel like life even existed, just sun and infatuation.

What inspires you?

Creative women, art exhibitions, weirdos living even weirder lifestyles and anything that makes me question my way of thinking, being or living.

How tall are you?

175cm or 5’9″

Karura Forest Kenya Travels

Daniel in Karura Forest in Nairobi in 2014 when we went to visit my family who live there.

Which places do you want to visit in the near future?

I will be an intern and therefore poor for a while now but on top of my list is Scotland, South Korea, Budapest, the Japanese countryside and Guatemala or Brazil.

You travel constantly! How do you feel about flying?

I hate flying. I hate when I fly and when people I know fly. I get super dramatic and as I wave farewell to my loved ones beforehand I think about how it’s the last time we’ll ever see each other and how they will have to bury me. Then weeks in somebody will remember I have a blog and have to log onto here and write a letter to you guys.

I also get a lighter kind of migraine (I have real migraine from time to time) as soon as I step on an airplane. Ughhhh. But travelling is a luxury and great and I’m so blessed for being able to do it so often.

What are some of your favourite places you’ve visited whilst traveling (restaurants, shops, in nature, etc.)?

All places I’ve visited have had something magical about it. But let’s make a list because lists rock:

Koh Tao Thailand Travels
Scuba diving: Crystal clear waters in Thailand (here with my family for a month in 2009)

Food: All the seafood, vegetables, wine and meats just tasted like heaven in Cape Town, South Africa

Kerala India Travels
Nature: Going with the blue train through the lush forests of Kerala, India (when my family lived there in 2010)

Nightlifedive bars, oyster happy hour and all kinds of music in NYC, USA

Diani Beach Kenya Travels
Beachesendless white Diani Beach, Kenya

Masai Mara Kenya
Wildlifecamping amongst elephants and lions in Masaai Mara, Kenya

Amsterdam Travels
Beautiful citywith a million canals in Amsterdam, Holland

Greece
ViewsAll islands in Greece

How do you prepare for a trip?

I LOVE planning. Most of the people I travel with are shocked about my preparations before hand. I scavenge the internet for hidden city gems and usually have at least two A4s with museums to hit up, shops to check out, bars to get drunk in etc. In my phone I have a list for each city/country I want to travel to and as soon somebody casually drops a sentence about something cool somewhere I add it.

I love putting up a schedule on what to do on which days and what time during the day to do it. Like a proper itinerary. I’m a freak, but many like travelling with me because I suggest so much and take care of all of it. Although I love even more when my travel buddies do this too so I don’t have to. Like Daniel for example, he’s exactly like me and together we are the ultimate explorers.

When it comes to packing I bring as little as possible and like to plan exakt outfits for each day so I don’t bring anything unnecessary.
