New York | Spicy Village, Williamsburg Bridge & Champs Diner

We’ve come to the day where at the end I lay dehydrated in the bathroom not knowing who I am with Daniel having wrapped me in wet towels after I cried that I was dying. But I thought we should see what it looked like up until then. Plus that I have a little surprise for you at the bottom of this post!Spicy-Village,-China-Town-New-YorkMondays might be one of my favourite days when I’m travelling. The city is busy and all so quiet at the same time with all inhabitants being awake but trapped at work. New York is somewhat busier I guess, but otherwise much the same.

My skin is sweaty from sleeping in this heat and I can feel it pearling up on my back. The room smells of used duvets and still air even though the window has been wide open all night. The only thing that travels through it is the smell of latin american spices from the neighbour’s kitchen. Daniel is still sleeping, head pressed deep into the pillow. I blow on his eyelids and they flicker and his blue eyes peak through. It surprises me that he never seem to be annoyed with him waking him up.Williamsburg-Bridge,-New-York-BrooklynThe flat is empty and we shower and don’t want to get dressed because of the heat. We eventually do though and catch the subway (not the tube, believe me, I’ve been corrected) down to Lower East Side. The streets seem friendlier now that they are less busy. Just a few stray part timers strolling the streets, iced coffees in hands.

This is the first time in months we’ve been able to spend time just us two. It’s weird being thrown in and out of a relationship like we have living apart this year. It makes me stand offish for a little while once we’re back together. But not now. It might be the wilderness of New York swallowing us or that I know that at least this time we’ll be together for two months. We sit leaned against a coffee shop window and talk about things we don’t bring up over skype. Like Justin Bieber, how I pretend I’m not stressed about my internship just because I know you’re even more stressed about work, which of the dogs that walk past is the cutest and whether or not we should paint your ladder black or not.Pink-Williamsburg-BridgeWhen we’re starving we walk over to the chinese restaurant Spicy Village, an awful looking gem of a restaurant in the outskirts of China Town. It’s funny because they are playing the Justin Bieber track we just mentioned earlier. The one you posted on my facebook wall a few weeks back and it makes you smile between dumplings.

The whole day continues down these lines. We walk everywhere. Over the pink Williamsburg Bridge where we stop to chill whilst others are obviously out jogging, exercising, and then through several vintage stores in Williamsburg. Mostly alone and always sweating.Champs-Vegan-Diner,-BushwickNicolas finishes late and when he enters the flat we return straight out in the heat. The sun is setting and everywhere people sit on their front steps speaking spanish. He brings us to a vegan diner called Champs where we have a slightly awkward dinner with a few people. I start feeling delirious and act as if drunk due to lack of hydration. I don’t remember the rest of it, just the panic of fainting and not knowing where we were. But you know how that ended by now…

And here is some clips from the day because during this trip I’ve actually filmed some! : ))) Let me know what you think.

Here are the previous days of our North American trip:
Day 1 – AP Cafe, Saturday Surf, Soho & Tattoos
Day 2- A Sunday in New York City
