AMSTERDAM DAY 3

1 On the Sunday I woke up naked whilst Daniel was still wearing his jacket and his jeans. Reason being us sharing one tiny sleeping bag. 2 The hot tent was suffocating us and with the top 5 hangovers of my life we stepped out among the cows with swollen faces. 4 A few hours were spent sleeping in the sun chairs, eating cherries and sipping ice tea before taking the train back to Amsterdam. 5 Back in Amsterdam, we bought chips to eat by the canal and passed through the awful Red Light District with horrid male tourists posing in front of naked girls in the windows. It made me sick and furious. 6 The plan was for us two party animals to stroll around, start day drinking and then party until our train to the airport would leave at 5am. That did not happen. Instead we panicked in tiredness and found the shittiest little hostel with a broken neon sign to take in at. €50 and 6 floors up was a minimal room without a bathroom and dicks drawn on the walls. The door handle fell off as we opened it and it looked pretty much exactly as unimpressive as one would’ve thought, but then and there it felt like paradise. 7 But oh my, there was nothing wrong with that view. 10 It felt as spontaneous and dumb and dreamy as I imagined travelling with your lover would. We got naked and had a drink in bed before passing out before 10pm. 811 We woke up at dawn and the only thing to be heard were the purple city’s sighs and the seagulls afar. Not a single person was out, just me and Daniel. And I could have it like that always.   Linn

YOU MAKE CHAMPAGNE OUT OF LEMONADE

It’s 27degrees and sunny every single day. I don’t have a job so I sip iced coffees and listen to bouncy tunes. It’s paradise before hell breaks lose, and I’m going to pretend that I don’t know. ps the girls in the vid look exactly like me and ornella when we go out drinking <3   Linn

AMSTERDAM DAY 2

1 amsterdam Saturday and we wake up and hurry outside as we have to check out from our room before eleven. 2 daniel amsterdam My back is aching so Daniel carries both of our bags. Such a gentleman. 3 amsterdam We’ve got this brunch place we want to check out and starts heading towards it. Unfortunately it’s tricky to tell the distance on a map and it turns out that it is beyond really damn far and it takes us over an hour to walk there. But it’s gorgeous out and we don’t really mind as we have too many fun things to talk about anyway. 6 boom cafe We finally arrive at the cafe called BOOM and it sure is worth the trip. How come nobody speaks about how Dutch people are the friendliest ever? 4 daniel We order weird salads and steaming coffees while checking out Daniel’s farmers tan and receiving broken cookies from the girl working there. ”I just have to look at these cookies for them to break. You guys eat them so my boss won’t notice.” 5 Amsterdam were overflowing with cosy cafes and bars and restaurants, and all people were well dressed and friendly. Style must be some sort of Dutch heritage thingy because everywhere is beautiful. 6 daniel People on bikes surrounded us, a tram passed once every so often. We sat there watching hilarious transatlantic snapchats and recorded the silliest videos. 7 cafe boom Feeling less hungover we said bye to Boom and caught a tram down central again. 8 market To a huge flea market by Waterlooplein. It was filled with little gems among the trash. Old military gear, denim shirts, fur coats, furniture and expensive trench coats. Go there if you like scavenger hunting! 8 As the sun kept on shining we shared coffees by the canal, got lost on the pedestrian streets for a few hours before we bumped into drug cartels in an alleyway and quickly turned back. 9 amsterdam Filled with fatigue we grabbed the first seats we could find that included outdoor seating, people watching and drinks. I ordered the prettiest drink ever that tasted awful. I must remember that I don’t like rhubarb drinks. 10 amsterdam train station Then it was time to head to the train station. And I do have a soft spot for train stations. 11 daniel It was time to head out to the Dutch countryside and the little town of Eerbeek, where our babe Sebastiaan is from. 12 feest He picked us up with his car, blasting Bruce Springsteen obviously, and we drove through fields, over canals and arrived at the party! 18 seb daniel Seb’s parents had gathered 130 of their finest people for no reason at all to have hell of a feast. We were super excited. 14 bouncy castle Because they had one of these! Plus an Italian restaurant catering the finest food ever, plus endless bottles of wine and beer from the wooden bar. 15 daniel We hung out in the paddock where they used to keep the horses but that was now occupied by tons of tents and people. 21 vdk   Mr Sebastiaan himself. 20 daniel We ate and drank and pretended to understand dutch and met his parents. 19 Two Irish folk bands played and as half of the family is Irish people went mental. 17 eerbeek16 eerbeek Flown in from the UK were also Seb’s dad’s favourite band since 48 years back. A country band called the The Incredible String Band who used to open for Jimmy Hendrix at Woodstock. Seb’s dad had never seen them live before so he decided they should play at his party. No big deal. 19 eerbeek And the sun dyed the fields and horses and the whole Dutch world all golden. 23 And what’s a party without fireworks. 24 At midnight the chandelier tent (seriously!) turned into some sort of club with Amsterdam djs playing tunes. And oh man, old people can sure still party, that’s for sure. We danced to 80’s rock and country songs, drank up every single beer there was and found some of the band members high as kites, making out in the bouncy castle. 25 At 3am this lady was the last one to still keep on dancing. Beaten by a +60 is painful but pretty great. The whole party moved inside to eat left overs and drink more but me and Daniel snuck out and passed out in one of the tents in the garden. Jesus Christ, Holland you sure are delivering.   Linn

AMSTERDAM DAY 1

1 daniel SO, MY BOYFRIEND SHAVED HIS HEAD. And then we went to Amsterdam one cloudy friday in June. 2 daniel Via the flat we rented through airbnb we also got free museum passes, score! So we skipped the queue to the Van Gogh museum (which apparently was the pride of Holland) and got in for free. And it was – nice? I’m just not a big fan of classical art museums, I’m more or a pinterest kind of gal so as we went around I pointed at every other painting telling Daniel like or dislike. NOT worth queueing for an hour and paying a fortune for. 24 But Amsterdam as a city though was more breathtaking than any painting on this planet. And I sure hadn’t prepared for that. 3 amsterdam There were canals everywhere (apparently even more canals than Venice). We strolled around, astounded by the beauty of it, jumping aside from the billion bikes making their ways. 254 daniel amsterdam He is so handsome I die a little every time I look at him still. And he also happens to be the best tour guide/internet treasure hunter and had lots of places written down for us to visit. 5 amsterdam6 buffet van odette One of them being Buffet Van Odette a classy little cafe/diner just by the canal, filled with well dressed older ladies having lunch by them selves and couples meeting their in laws over lunch drinking icy white wine. 9 buffet van odette All so fancy and decorative but without being expensive. 7 buffet van odette And oh my, the food was all organic whatever goodness. YUM. 8 buffet van odette The day before I had called Daniel crying because I had found out that I got in to Hyper Island. I had broken down, weeping, not wanting to go, to hurt, to leave us. So Daniel had come home and held me and said that I have to do this, at least try. He held me again in this restaurant when we talked a bit more about it and we decided that we will make it work, this stupid thing being apart. And then he made me laugh again, like he always does. 11 amsterdam Out on the streets again we walked to the De 9 Straatjes which translates to the nine streets and is a cute little shopping district with independent boutiques and lovely bars and cafes. 10 amsterdam Everywhere in central all the buildings were domestic which I’ve never experienced before. All along all the canals and the little backstreets, even on the high street people actually lived! It was like travelling back in time. 14 amsterdam LOOK! 15 daniel nachos Having walked for a hundred hours, being completely lost without any internet we finally found the cheesiest, kind of dodgy looking little place in a maze of pedestrian streets. It was time for nachos and beers, two loves we both share. We talked about his upcoming motorcycle trip in California and about friends proposing and about living in a tree house in Texas and other stuff we could do in the future. 20 amsterdam12 amsterdam13 amsterdam Full and tipsy we continued strolling without purpose, photographing and peeking into rich people’s homes. 19 cafe george When it was time for a second dinner we went to Cafe George. A NYC/Paris looking place filled with yuppies and gorgeous groups of gay men drinking champagne. 18 george16 george Daniel forced me to order white wine and ALL MY FAVOURITE FOOD. Carpaccio, spaghetti and oysters. <3 And then we shared it all. 17 daniel Daniel. 21 amsterdam night21 amsterdam When we got back out it was this dreamy out. I mean seriously, it’s like a romantic scene in some Disney film! 22 whiskey After barhopping in De 9 Straatjes drinking craft beers served by rude bartenders Daniel took me to paradise. Well as closed to it as a whiskey loving girl can come. 26 whiskey Hidden in the somewhat awful quarters of Leidseplein lies this bar, crammed from floor to ceiling with dusty old treasure bottles with bourbon, scotch and irish whiskeys. On vinyl they play American folk music like Bob Dylan and others and the bartenders climb ladders and open hidden cupboards to find that one bottle they haven’t opened in 8 years just for you. 23 No mixers allowed and that’s understandable. 4 euros for a glass of the finest whiskey I’ve ever tasted. Me and Daniel got drunk and order more and more. The bartender had a few with us and the vinyls were spinning and once again we dreamt about the southern states. I almost fell off my chair and Daniel couldn’t stop laughing. When it’s late late at night and the tourists were puking outside or buying sex in the Red Light District we went for late night food at a Chinese restaurant before walking home to our airbnb. We spend the rest of the night making out. Holidays with my best person are always beyond any expectations.   Linn

MY LITTLE SIS MOA

3 moa My lovely, tough little sister came by London on her way moving from Kenya back to Stockholm for the summer. She’s a proper weirdo and hell of a whirlwind and you can be sure to have a great time when she’s around. She has given our parents lots of grief like among other things sneaked out from home in the middle of the night to runaway with her friends to the Kenyan coast without money or bankcards. But she gives even more happiness, that’s for sure. 1 moa cafe 338 She started up with showing up with 60kg of luggage in two broken suitcases we had to carry back home on our backs as the wheels and handles were ruined. We then had three days that included going for long breakfasts at Cafe 338 and shopping in a crazy hot Soho. 2 moa The sun was frying us so we drank a lot of beers and scavenged every little second hand shop in east london, all while catching up. 3 moa I know I’m the older sister but being shattered from within I sure felt tiny and there is nothing like a sister consoling you then. I told her things I hadn’t even wanted to admit to myself, and it was such a relief. 5 moa There were also rooftops and backstreets, posh boutiques and underground rides. And I got to hear all the gossip about the handful of Kenyan babes who have fallen for this one. 4 moa netil house We met up with her friends Sharkey from Kenya at Netil House one day before she went to nanny my two Irish girls with me for a night. The girls went mental and refused to go to bed because they wanted to show Moa everything. After they crashed we cooked meatballs and watched some cheesy chickflick whilst slumbering in the sofa until the parents got home and we walked barelegged in the hot darkness back home. 2 moa On the last night before we flew off to Stockholm we went for burgers at Byron in Hoxton. 1 byron It’s great to be able to drink white wine to cool off on a summer eve with your little sis. 45 I looked like this in a gorgeous tennis skirt we found on Brick Lane. Never had that many men cat calling me on the streets ever so that sucked, but I still love my skirt. 7 kitty6 The nights were scarlet and oozed of hormones from people wanting to get laid. 8 moa daniel Daniel met up with us at the Royal Oak and this is what the majority of the people look like when hanging out with Moa. We drank pints and talked about smileys in messages and festivals around the world and the Royal Oak was packed even though it was only a Wednesday. 9 moa daniel As it closed we headed over to the Sebright Arms across the street from us. 10 saboune The most loyal friend ever showed up to hangout despite flying off to Berlin at 3am. And so we sat in t-shirts in the night, as the pints turned empty and our heart full. There is nothing like the love of siblings.   Linn
