RAINY TERRACES AND DRUNKEN WEDNESDAYS

1 LOVISA TERRASSEN A rainy Wednesday and I’m staying in bed until 3pm when this lady texts me telling me that she’s coming over, whether I like it or not. 2 lovisa terassen She brings red velvet cake and I make instant coffee while she checks out my flat. A proper dull, grey London day, but it’s still warm enough to sit on the roof terrace without a jumper on. 4 Linn We discuss best friends who disappears and handsome ginger men in black outfits, dirty flats with even dirtier landlords and other things that fuck up your life in London. 3 She’s a babe this one. As it’s getting darker we head inside to listen to some hiphop and put some make up on, like the finest girlfriends cliché. <3 5 Lovisa London Fields Dressed we buy wine and ravioli and head further up in Hackney. London Fields is blooming like something from a dream. 10 Nuala11 nuala The ever so lovely Nuala is there. 9 Hevin Frida8 Hevin Frida Also Hevin, who just moved here, and Frida. 6 Lovisa7 Lovisa Eating pasta and getting tipsy on red wine with these girls is something I’ve longed for. They make my head empty in a carefree way whilst my heart is drunkenly beating fast. 8 Lovisa Nuala And after Lovisa gets down to some tunes it is time for us to head out. 14 Lovisa Ridley Rd Up to Dalston Junction and Ridley Road Market Bar where they sell mojitos in pint glasses for £5! 13 Lovisa Ridley rd Lovisa. 11 Nuala Ridley Rd Nuala. 12 Lovisa Ridley We sit down outside, drinking too many mojitos for a Wednesday night. 16 Nuala Ridley Rd Nuala tells us about her Mean Girls at uni and I tell them about mine. We also talk about being kicked out from home and other London happenings. Hilarious girls. 15 Linn Nuala And suddenly it is dead late and everything feels blurry. We walk through a dark Hackney and I sneak on one of the last trains back home, hoping not to get caught. Drunken Wednesdays with girl gangs are extraordinary.   Linn

PATTY & BUN

1 Patty & Bun A few weeks ago, I defied my biggest fear and went all the way down central to Oxford Circus, human hell on earth. It isn’t too bad if you have time and money to spend, but as a poor east Londoner, having to fight aggressive tourists and not having a penny to spend it sucks. ANYWAYS, what does make this experience less horrid is the newly open burger heaven called Patty & Bun (on 54 James St, W1U 1HE). 2 Daniel I had this handsome and clean shaved burger expert with me. 3 patty bun And after having queued for 40min we were seated. 4 pb And oh my, if it was worth the wait! With rustic interior, young waiters in tight denim loving their jobs and the finest rnb blasting it was a hipster safe haven. The burgers? Not too bad, not too impressive either. But for being in central london and with Sean Paul singing me through my meal, I have to say it was pretty damn good.   Linn

JUST A FRIDAY

The first few weeks of uni was dead quiet. Since I didn’t really know anybody I spent a lot of time hanging around at home in my bed and on the dirty streets of Hackney instead. 1 Kajsa1 Kajsakjas One friday, I went for a walk around lunch and randomly ran into Kajsa and Lisa, the two amazingly cool twins, having 3pm pints at the Dove on Broadway Market. Not having seen each other for more than a year, we decided to have some drinks together. The reason why they were already drinking though was sadly that Lisa was moving back to Sweden the following week. 2 Moro We talked about boys and flats and caught up in each others lives. Weirdly enough we were astonished by how well we fit as friends now, which just hasn’t really been the case for the past two years? SO ODD. Mauro happened to stop by too, extremely drunk with a mate of his. 5. kajsa van After hours of petting little puppies (as that street is the best for dog spotting) we ended up at their fantastic flat by the canal with their lovely scottish friend. 4 lisa We heated some pizzas and cracked open some beers to some dancy indie rock. 3 DANIEL Daniel showed up. 5 kajsa There was boy problems and bad flatmates, memories from when we lived in Clapton and a view of the canal from the window. AND WHAT I HAD MISSED GIRL NIGHTS LIKE THIS. <3 11 As always at predrinks it was just too much fun and we forgot the time. Too many hours vanished into nowhere before we headed out to the cold night, walking all the way up to Dalston. 106 dalston First to Ridley Road Market Bar for their £5 pints of mojitos but after a too long queue we ended up at the Shacklewell Arms. Old music and whiskey, we were whispering in a corner, others dancing like obsessed on among british rockers in leather jackets. 6 kebab Then BOOM. The twelve hours of drinking caught up with us and it kind of hurt like hell, even for youngsters like us. Tired we finished up with some halloumi wraps and chips in a freezing cold night. But that sure ended up being the longest lunch walk I’ve ever taken!   Linn
