NYC // DAY 8

För er som hellre läser på svenska. 1. Bodega Slightly hungover we get out on the streets of Bushwick. The only cure for this is to buy a ridiculously cheap grilled cheese sandwich from the local bodega. It is a convenient store gone restaurant and you can catch a glimpse of some of the delicacies up in the right corner. 2. Highline That and some fruit salad will do for breakfast and after taking the subway we get off in West Village to visit the High Line. 3. Highline It is an closed train track turned into a overgrown walkway, going along almost the whole west side of Manhattan, crossing the different districts and streets. 4. NYC It was once again baking hot and the walkway was filled with benches and trees and little street vendors. You could see the whole city without having to fight for space on crowded pavements. 5. bros6. Bros We bought some fruity ice lollies. 7. Bros These twin brothers. 7. nic linn9. Nic linn Nicolas and I. 10 highline11 brso After a quite a few blocks we got off. 12 magnolia And walked past the Magnolia Bakery a la Sex and the City. 13. dog walker I discover my new profession. 14 twins14. twins After a few hours of window shopping we are starving. After a mis fortunate stop at a recommended dumpling place which ended up only doing take away we end up at Spicy Village again. And it is absolute divine, if you can ever say that about greasy Chinese food. 17 Daniel Daniel’s friend from studying in Copenhagen lives in NYC so we have decided to meet up at Black Market in East Village. 16 Daniel It’s perfect timing as the sun is setting and the happy hour is on. We order pretty much all cocktails on the menu, the boys getting all of theirs in fancy and slim champagne glasses. 18 twins At six o’clock I’m pretty drunk already and Josef shows up. Some girls are having a proper fistfight on the streets and which we bond over with the waiter. 20 linnea I text Linnea, a friend from when we both were 18, living by ourselves in Stockholm which felt like the world metropolis. She studies in NYC now and joins us for the night. Straight away we get into heated discussion about cultural appropriation, loud Americans and feminism in different generation. She is a brilliant girl, check out her blog here (unfortunately only in Swedish). 19 Daniel21 daniel All the windows are wide open as the heat never fades, like a proper Indian summer. The beers keep on coming and that bill is building up like there is no tomorrow. 22 clara linnea Josef, Linnea and her friend Clara. After paying the painful price of an open tab, we head out to switch venues. I get loudly told off by some angry waitress who I didn’t tip after she refused to serve me for 15min. Slap slap in my face, very naughty tourist. 23 bar A few stops includes an empty bar playing house and buying gin for underaged boys. I’m looking everywhere for a cheap sweater as the indian summer suddenly transformed to an arctic winter, telling us our summer and holiday is coming to an end. We refuse to accept that and end up here. It’s a place called something I won’t remember, where the lighting and neon signs are just insane. Even here they basically only play brit rock. <3 23 bros Small can + a whisky shot : $6! 24 flickor We stay here for a few hours, more friends dropping in and out. Some get too touchy, giving others hopes of not sleeping alone, but it’s all fun and games. We discuss future/previous tattoos we regret or want to get done. Some thinks it’s just a hipster thing, while others agree it sure is permanent and therefore more than a trend. Luckily there aren’t too many tattoo parlours open this late, because that would’ve ended in a disaster. Too late we somehow find our way back to Bushwick, and crash down in the bed.   Linn
